Smiling Gecko Cambodia (SGC) was officially registered in 2014 as a local non-profit NGO in Cambodia. It provides direct aid in the form of finance and other support to the needy in Cambodia, sponsoring projects that are sustainable both from an ecological and economic standpoint. We created a self-sufficient ecosystem for rural communities in Cambodia including Smiling Gecko Campus and Farmhouse Resort & Spa and The Gong. Farmhouse Resort & Spa is located in the countryside about 65 km north of Phnom Penh, surrounded by paddy fields and rolling hills. The Farmhouse Resort & Spa has 34 tastefully furnished rooms and suites spread over 17 bungalows in a classic Khmer style and more contemporary. The resort features multiple dining options from the main Farmhouse Restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, over a very relaxing pool lounge bar to the dining extravaganza of “Restaurant Un” and the even more exclusive “Chef’s Table” situated at the founder’s private bungalow. The Sanctuary Spa with treatment rooms in 8 free-standing buildings, its pool, and the adjoining Sanctuary Café. The Spa menu is extensive and ranges from classic massages and couple massages to treatments with sauna or whirlpool use. In addition, the spa has a fully equipped gym as well as a small and two large yoga shalas.
- Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Coordinator (1 Position)
- JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Data-Driven Decision Making: An M&E Coordinator plays a key role in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to the organization's programs, projects, and operations. By providing accurate and timely information, they provide data-driven decision-making processes that help in assessing the impact of initiatives, identifying areas for improvement, and optimizing resource allocation.
- Performance Monitoring: The M&E Coordinator ensures that key performance indicators (KPIs) are defined, tracked, and reported on regularly to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of various activities. They monitor progress toward organizational goals, identify bottlenecks, and recommend adjustments to enhance operational performance.
- Impact Assessment: The M&E Coordinator conducts impact assessments and evaluations to determine the overall effectiveness of programs and projects in achieving their intended outcomes. By assessing the social, economic, and environmental impact of Smiling Gecko's initiatives, they can provide valuable insights for future planning and strategy development.
- Quality Assurance: The M&E Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of data collected, monitoring the implementation of best practices, and adherence to established standards. They help maintain accountability and transparency within the organization and ensure that programs meet set criteria and standards.
- Learning and Knowledge Sharing: Through monitoring and evaluation activities, the M&E Coordinator facilitates learning and knowledge sharing within the organization. They identify successful practices, lessons learned, and best approaches that can be replicated or scaled up to maximize impact and efficiency.
- In terms of operation and funding, the M&E Coordinator can help Smiling Gecko in the following ways:
- Grant Reporting: They can assist in preparing accurate and comprehensive reports for donors, funders, and partners by providing evidence-based data on program outcomes, impact, and achievements.
- Resource Allocation: By analyzing performance data and evaluating the effectiveness of different interventions, the M&E Coordinator can provide insights into optimizing resource allocation, identifying cost-effective strategies, and improving operational efficiency.
- Risk Management: Through real-time monitoring and evaluation of projects, the M&E Coordinator can identify potential risks, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. They help in developing risk mitigation strategies, contingency plans, and adaptive management approaches to ensure project success.
- Strategic Planning: The M&E Coordinator contributes to strategic planning and decision-making processes by providing evidence-based recommendations, identifying priorities, and aligning activities with organizational goals. They help in shaping Smiling Gecko's long-term vision and direction based on data-driven insights.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., development studies, social sciences, statistics).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation, research, or data analysis, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, Excel, STATA).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Experience in designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks and systems.
- Knowledge of best practices in data collection, management, and reporting.
- Understanding of impact assessment methodologies, theories of change, and logical models.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Khmer or other local languages is a plus.
