Job Description

Wathnakpheap (WP) is a local Cambodian NGO which was localised from International NGO, SKIP (Pestalozzi Children Village’s Foundation) and was registered with the Government since 1997. Wathnakpheap has more 20 years extensive experience working with a variety of partners, including local NGOs, international NGOs, and private companies, and for a wide range of donors, including government agencies, multilateral organisations and corporate foundations. WP has been implementing projects for 6 programs areas such as 1) Community Led Child Nutrition; 2) Education for better life; 3) Good Governance and Civic Engagement; 4) Resilient Livelihood; 5) Women Entrepreneurship.

Currently, we are seeking 1 qualified candidates to fill 1 positions as the following below:

  • Project Officer- WASH -Water Sanitation and Hygiene (1 Position)
Job Responsibilities & Duties
  • Ensure timely implementation of project activities according to work plans developed with project management team.
  • Facilitate communication with regional and local authorities, VFP and other CBOs;
  • Work in partnership with the local authority, PDRD and Water Sanitation User Groups in each village
  • Enhance the skills and competencies of Commune Focal Point, Commune Council for Women Children –(CCWC), Commune Councils (CC), WSUG, Village Focal Point in WASH improvements
  • Support in conducting Participatory Village Social Assessment and Mapping (PVSAM)
  • Promotion of household sanitation through community led total sanitation and sanitation marketing
  • Assist support WASH civil engineer the WASH facilities construction from the assessment to the evaluation stages. The WASH facilities include community-piped water systems, household rainwater harvesting systems, household latrine.
  • Increase awareness of parent, guardian, local authorities and communities on key WASH practices namely use latrine, drink safe water, and practice hand washing with soap.
  • Monitor and support to children, parents, guardians and community to improve their WASH practices.
  • Facilitate the community water supply, operation, maintenance and management and sanitation systems identified in the community water safety plan
  • Carry out water supply system feasibility studies (assessments)
  • Follow up training activities at field level and document its results or experiences, lessons learned from project implementation.
  • Support PDRD, CCWC and stakeholders to organize trainings related to projects and seek feedback from relevance staff as needed.
  • Submit activity note of any event, weekly and monthly to Project Manager.
  • Keep monitoring of the progress, collect data appropriately and timely.
  • Assist the project manager to identify the gaps in M&E aspect and reporting as needed.
  • Provide support to PM to complete the tracking tool and keep the manager aware of significant change under their designated project.
  • Participate in trainings/workshops or meetings as per required for capacity strengthening and networking. Perform any other work related duties and responsibilities that may be reasonably assigned by his/her line manager
Job Requirements

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate bachelor’s degree in Water and Sanitation, Rural Development or related field
  • An understanding of WASH implementation and capacity to generate dialogue among a diverse range of groups.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum two years of experience working in community development with WASH projects
  • Leadership qualities, communication and team skills (including mediation and conflict
  • resolution).
  • Excellent proven facilitation and training skills.

SKILLS:

  • Proven ability in the community mobilize, development and transfer knowledge to community people especially indigenous people.
  • Specific Knowledge Requirements:
  • Must be willing to live in area of project intervention.
  • Fluency in local languages and English is preferred
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Internet and Email).
  • Be patient and have good work commitment
  • Able to drive a motorbike on difficult roads.
