UWS is an award-winning global organization bringing community-centric education models to the world's most remote populations. Since 2008, we've built and developed 310 schools, trained over 1,300 teachers, and provided over 60,000 children across Cambodia, Madagascar, Myanmar, and Nepal with a quality education. UWS was founded in Cambodia in 2008 and currently operates 96s schools across seven provinces, Rattanakiri, Steung Treng, Kratie, Mondulkiri, Koh Kong, Oddar Meanchey, and Preah Vihear. UWS Cambodia contributes to strengthening primary education systems through working with national and local governments to improve quality and inclusive primary education and facilities for children in remote areas. To date, UWS has reached over 11,000 students, built capacity in 136 primary schools, and 40 schools were completed transitioned to national education systems.
- Education Officers (3 Positions)
Pedagogical Support/Review
- Provide teachers with on-site support, including lesson observations, feedback, and capacity-building sessions.
- Supporting School Directors and SMCs
- Provide school principals and School Management Committees (SMCs) with capacity-building training and foster collective ownership and accountability.
- Conduct minute meetings with headteachers and (SMCs), working towards prioritised, budgeted annual school development plans.
School Visits and Community Engagement:
- Visit all schools they support, spending at least two full days with each community to monitor and enhance school performance including school environment, WASH, governance, resources, CPS, and the student learning outcomes.
- Ensure all stakeholders comply with UWS’ CPS and Inclusion Policies.
- Facilitate audited monthly meetings with Girl Clubs, and Mother Groups at each assigned school, ensuring regular attendance and tracking the progress of their work plans and outcomes, and enhance community ownership and accountability.
- Identify at-risk students and OOS children within the community and collaborate with local authorities, head teachers, and SMCs to support their reintegration into school.
- Contribute to developing the school's annual operational plan by providing inputs and ensuring the integration of UWS initiatives.
- Engage the community and decision-makers to foster ownership and commitment to school quality assurance, encompassing school infrastructure, operations, and governance.
Data Collection and Monitoring
- Collect data for programme monitoring and evaluation across all relevant metrics (at minimum, all core data points for ZEP and UKAM R5).
- Carry out routine inspections of school grounds (classrooms, WASH facilities, playgrounds, fences and gates) to ensure safety and quality standards are being met.
- (Quarterly) ensure the timely completion of School Development Reports (SDRs) and any relevant data as requested by the MEAL team.
- (As required), collect case studies to capture lessons learned and good practices that can be used to advocate for quality and inclusive education.
ESSENTIAL
- Is a Cambodian national
- Bachelor’s degree in the field of education, social sciences, community development and related fields
- Experience of child protection and safeguarding and GEDSI related projects
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively adapt information for different audiences.
- Extensive experience building school staff and community body capacity and delivering training to improve education and teaching quality.
- Computer literate.
- Basic level of English is advantageous.
- Persistent, enthusiastic, adaptable and willing to take on new ideas and initiatives. Is patient, understanding, and a team player.
- Is prepared to extensively travel to remote communities within Cambodia, including at short notice.
DESIRABLE

- A degree in education and have at least three years experience working in the education sector in particular primary education.
- Good facilitation and communication skills, in particular working with sub-national government
- Good documentations skills and be able to write report in English
- Sound interesting in development works in particular primary education in remote areas
- Flexible and Open-minded person, willing to learn new things
- High commitment and demonstrates a good accountability
