With the purpose of expanding production capacity, the 15 cooperatives from six provinces have joined together to form a cooperative apex organization called Social Entrepreneurs Union of Agricultural Cooperative (SEUAC) at the national level under the initiative of Heifer Cambodia’s Poultry Project of National Pride (PPNP). The role of SEUAC is to unite, promote and develop cooperatives to be agri- enterprises, increase farm productivity, and leverage resources from diverse sources. Heifer Cambodia collaborated with Department of Agricultural Cooperative Promotion of Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) to establish SEUAC in 2021, and it was registered on June 27, 2022.
So far, SEAUC has received both technical and financial support from Heifer Cambodia to mobilize production forces and production facilities; expand agricultural production capacity, agribusiness, or agricultural-related services for improving quantity and quality; reduce production cost; and maintain the competitiveness of agricultural products, as well as promoting the interests of local farmers with equality, equity, and dignity. The SEAUC has been preparing for the implementation of its business plans on backyard chickens, vegetables, yellow watermelon, sweet melon, transportation facilities, and other agricultural value chain infrastructures. This will help to achieve its strategic plan 2022-2030.
- Executive Manager
- Manage business operation and provide services related to agricultural production:
- Develop and strengthen policies on financial management, administration, personnel and procurement.
- Lead the implementation of projects’ activities and action plans.
- Develop business plan and determine new profitable business for ACs and producer groups.
- Monitor and prepare reports of business transactions such as inventory report and income statement.
- Manage the entries of income and expenditure into accounting systems and ensure that the record of the profits/loss, saving, credit, shares, and balance sheet is accurate.
- Train and integrate community development based on holistic values and market development.
- Support BoD for safeguarding the interest of members in contributing social and economic development.
- Manage office administration and maintain the SEUAC document properly.
- Mobilize resources and investment capital:
- Develop mobilization strategies for resources and investment capital.
- Mobilize resources from partnering with private sector, government, NGOs, and members.
- Seek financing from banks and Micro Finance Institutions for value addition and to scale business without complicated collateral requirement.
- Participate and position enterprise in business forums, business network, and other technical working groups.
- Manage the accessibility and control of agricultural loan or investment credit to members or producer groups.
- Scale agricultural production and profitability:
- Mobilize production forces, production facilities, and production capacity.
- Increase the numbers of producer groups and buyers.
- Lead the construction work at farms of safe vegetables, yellow watermelon, sweet melon, and native chicken.
- Develop production plan.
- Manage cleaning, processing, and packaging lines (native chickens, yellow watermelon, sweet melon, and native chicken).
- Lead the production of natural solid and liquid composts and distribution channel to ACs and farmers.
- Improve accessibility to profitable market:
- Seek for buyers and increase sale agreements between SEUAC and buyer groups.
- Lead in vehicle for transportation and distribution of agricultural products from local to market.
- Develop and promote an agricultural product brand under SEUAC.
- Lead in organizing agricultural product exhibitions on digital/social platforms.
- High commitment at working with small household farmers, self-help group, and agricultural cooperatives.
- Able to travel to villages in targeted agricultural cooperatives.
- BS/MS degree in business administration, agronomy, agriculture or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years experiences in successful production of organic vegetable crops, including net-house and propagation experience
- Demonstrated success in the effective management and supervision of worker and volunteers
- Experience in the maintenance of crop production, GAP, pesticide applications, organic certification, soil health, and other production related documentation
- Experiences in community development or SME project work Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
- Committed to continuous education through workshops, seminars and conferences.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Strong leadership qualities.
- Good knowledge of different business functions.
- Willingness to have a flexible schedule with weekend hours required during the growing season.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in and foster a work environment of mutual respect and collaboration; ability to develop positive working relationships and problem solve with people of different backgrounds
- Strong willing to learn/upgrade capacity in agricultural value chain and business develop at agricultural cooperative and SEUAC levels.
- Ability to use computer for office work and English language for general communication
- Strong written and verbal skills in English is prefer.
