Smiling Gecko Cambodia (SGC) was officially registered in 2014 as a local non-profit NGO in Cambodia. It provides direct aid in the form of finance and other support to the needy in Cambodia, sponsoring projects that are sustainable both from an ecological and economic standpoint. We created a self-sufficient ecosystem for rural communities in Cambodia including Smiling Gecko Campus, providing comprehensive basic education and vocational training, hospitality skill at Farmhouse Resort & Spa and The Gong Studio that is a premier music and performing cultural and arts center.
In collaboration with two leading Swiss academic institutions: the University of Zurich and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, the future Joint Bachelor Programs are being set up at Smiling Gecko Campus.
- Agronomist Supervisor (1 Position)
- Oversee daily operations in the greenhouse, net house, and vanilla production areas.
- Ensure all horticultural practices are carried out efficiently and effectively.
- Monitor and manage environmental conditions such as humidity, temperature, and light levels.
- Ensure optimal plant health through effective pest and disease management.
- Implement and oversee watering, fertilization, and pruning schedules.
- Maintain and improve soil health through appropriate cultivation practices
- Supervise, train, and provide guidance to horticultural staff and seasonal workers.
- Assign tasks and monitor staff performance.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff
- Monitor and maintain high standards of product quality.
- Conduct regular inspections of plants and growing conditions.
- Implement quality control measures and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Develop and implement production plans and schedules for greenhouse, net house, and vanilla crops.
- Monitor crop growth and yield, adjusting plans as necessary to meet targets.
- Coordinate planting, harvesting, and post-harvest activities.
- Promote and implement sustainable horticultural practices.
- Stay updated on the latest horticultural technologies and innovations.
- Initiate and manage research and development projects to improve production efficiency and product quality.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all horticultural activities, including production data, labor, and financial information.
- Generate regular reports for the Horticulture Manager and other stakeholders.
- Use data to inform decision-making and improve operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Conduct safety training and enforce safety protocols.
- Implement and maintain biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, procurement and sales team.
- Address customer inquiries and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Represent the organization at industry events and exhibitions.
- Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, agriculture, or other related field.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in horticulture, landscaping, or grounds maintenance.
- Proficiency in identifying plant diseases and pests and recommending effective treatments
- Strong knowledge of plant care, including pruning, planting, fertilization, and pest control.
- Experience in landscaping techniques, irrigation systems, and soil management.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards in horticulture work
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven leadership and team management abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook
