Job Description

Samaritan’s Purse International Relief (SPIR) is a nonprofit, nondenominational, evangelical Christian Organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. We are seeking one qualified candidate to fill the position below:

  • Build on Strength (BoS) Field Officer
Job Responsibilities & Duties
  • Assist the Project Coordinator in implementing the program with excellence. This includes coming to work prepared and on time, completing assigned tasks and alerting the Project Coordinator of any issues.
  • Conduct meetings with the existing Water Management Committees (WMCs) to reflect on strengths from recent years and gaps for needed improvements.
  • Assist the Project Coordinator in conducting meetings with local authorities and community members to discuss and identify community water system renovations. This includes finding new locations for borehole drilling, water tank construction, and water system connection.
  • Closely work with the WMCs, local authorities, and community leaders and households to identify locations for drilling wells
  • Train the WMCs on related skills such as monitoring the drilling process, water quality, water system installation, and the overall operation and maintenance of the system
  • Follow up and coach the WMCs on technical maintenance, bookkeeping, financial management and task delegation, to help ensure sustainable operation of the system
  • Day to day travel to assigned target villages to follow up about the water connection and ensure that all pipe connections are of good standard and quality
  • Assist the Project Coordinator to coordinate the Sage Migration and Trafficking Awareness that include selection of Village Volunteers (VVs) in target villages, facilitate SMTA TOT trainings to
  • them, and visit households to follow up the quality message sharing from VVs to households.
  • Work closely with local church leaders and assist them in maintaining good relationships with the community and local authorities in order to present a good testimony.
  • Provide daily reports to Project Coordinator to keep track of the project’s progress.
  • Write stories and submit quality photos about project impact regularly.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with local authorities, community members, and churches, demonstrating respect and following correct cultural protocols.
  • Assist new believers in connecting with churches and Christians in their village.
  • Be a strong Christian witness in the community.
  • Other duties associated with implementing the project, and assigned by the line supervisor.
Job Requirements
  • Commitment to Samaritan’s Purse vision, mission, core values and policies
  • A creative and flexible person who can work well under pressure, with a high commitment to meet accomplishments in a timely manner and problem solve
  • Strong facilitation and participatory training skills
  • Ability to carry out innovative training and participatory community engagement
  • Background experience migration and trafficking is an advantage
  • Experience with hygiene training, water supply, construction and borehole drilling is an advantage
  • Completed high school education with higher education preferred
  • Must be able to confidently ride a motorbike (this is a mandatory requirement of the job)
  • Ability to read and write Khmer; English is optional.
  • Experienced in MS Word, MS Excel and Google Earth mapping is preferred
